Causes of decline of agriculture sector

What are the main causes of decline in agriculture sector. Pakistan is an agricultural country, but unfortunately now we are import wheat, cotton and other goods from foreign countries. With the passage of time population grows more rapidly in the country, but our agriculture sector could not produce relative goods that fulfill needs of Pakistani nation. Our field production efficiency per hectre very low as compared to other countries. We have lack of modern technology in the field of agriculture. Our farmers are also unware about the modern technologies they are used traditional technique for field activities.
