The environmental problem for Pakistan is lack of awareness about why and how limiting our carbon footprint is essential for achieving net zero emissions.
So climate change and global warming is a buzz word around but very few people have the awareness and knowledge regarding the issue. We are seeing hundreds of campaigns of tree plantations but there is hardly any focus on educating people regarding the carbon footprint and how a common people can limit their carbon footprint. There are no detailed courses in curriculums regarding climate change, its causes, effects etc. We need to educate people regarding zero net emissions and how limiting carbon footprint will contribute to the goal and why only tree plantations will not solve the problem. We need to limit our carbon emissions. CO2 emissions per capita of Pakistan increased from 0.31 tons of CO2 per capita in 1970 to 1.09 tons of CO2 per capita in 2019 growing at an average annual rate of 2.72%. Climate change might be the most important issue of our time and its obvious that Pakistan will be one one the worst affected countries from climate change. It can cause us thousands of lives and billions of dollars. Its high time we should start educating people about climate change and how they can contribute in the cause beyond just planting trees.
